Disclaimer

LeftLane is a free practice tool for the feel of driving on the left. It is not a substitute for real driving lessons, a driving licence, or local road law. Real road signs and real local rules always override what you see here. Please read this page before you use LeftLane.

What LeftLane is

LeftLane is a free, browser-based practice tool for the feel of driving on the left side of the road. It covers a small set of common moments — roundabouts, junctions, lane discipline, passing places, parking-lot exits — for drivers visiting the UK, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, and other left-driving countries.

What LeftLane is not

  • Not a substitute for real driving lessons.
  • Not a substitute for a valid driving licence.
  • Not certified by any driving authority (UK DVSA, Ireland RSA, Australian state authorities, NZ NZTA, or any other).
  • Does not teach the full Highway Code of any country.
  • Not a complete simulator. Coverage of real driving is partial by design and many real-world hazards are not modelled.

Local rules override

LeftLane teaches universal patterns shared across UK, Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand. Where real local rules diverge from what you see here, the local rules apply. Always defer to actual road signs, traffic signals, road markings, and local traffic law — and to the instructions of police, traffic officers, or your hire-car operator.

Use at your own risk

You agree that you use LeftLane at your own risk. You are solely responsible for your own driving, your own decisions on the road, and any consequences — including accidents, traffic violations, fines, vehicle damage, injury, or loss of any kind — whether or not those consequences relate to anything you saw, did, or learned in LeftLane.

No warranty

LeftLane is provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE", without warranty of any kind, whether express or implied. We disclaim all warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, completeness, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that LeftLane will be error-free, uninterrupted, or that any rubric, coaching message, or visual representation matches real-world driving conditions in any specific country, road, or moment.

No liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the operator of LeftLane shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages of any kind — including but not limited to loss of life, personal injury, property damage, traffic fines, vehicle hire costs, lost wages, or lost profits — arising out of or in connection with your use of, or inability to use, LeftLane. This applies whether the claim is in contract, tort, negligence, strict liability, or otherwise, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.

Changes

We may update this disclaimer at any time. The current version is the one published on this page; continued use of LeftLane after any change means you accept the updated terms.
